I’m tired of hearing myself say it, but I can’t stop because I’m so amazed that it’s October and where on earth did summer go? What about you? Do you feel the same?

Sadly no big trips for us this year. Those photos from last year’s trip to Scotland keep popping up and make me long for travel. But even though we didn’t travel far this summer we did have a couple of smaller trips. In June, we traveled to the Wisconsin Dells for a dance competition. As many of you may know, my daughter-in-law has a dance studio and so those three granddaughters are into dance big time. So we went along to this competition as moral support and had so much fun watching them perform. And had time at the water park in between.

Then in late August/early September we kept those three for a couple of weeks while their parents took a bucket-list trip to Italy and Greece. So beautiful.

And later in September we traveled to St. Pete Beach, Florida for the Novelists, Inc. conference. We headed home just a few days before Hurricane Helene hit and we can’t believe the destruction not only along the Gulf Coast but in Georgia and the Carolinas.

Now we’re into October and here in the Midwest the leaves are beginning to change color. Fall is my favorite time of year and as I’m at work on book four in the Sugar & Spice series I’m so glad that it’s set in fall. I’m enjoying fictional St. Ignatius as the town turns toward beautiful fall colors, football games, and the best reading weather. I’m looking forward to seeing what you think of the latest mystery that Sugar & Dixie need to solve. There’s missing money, trouble at the local historical society, and a cold case that has never been resolved. Night of the Living Bread will be coming out the first part of 2025!

Now I’d better get back to work…
